Terroir
This typically French word sums up our conception of wine, its taste, its character. A terroir is a delimited and determined wine-growing entity, unique in its agronomic and human characteristics. It combines geological (soil and subsoil) and climatological criteria with human know-how (set of viticultural and production practices). It is because each terroir offers the wine an inimitable taste that it deserves to be protected and promoted by an appellation of origin.
