Ateliers
Developing your skills

Inter Rhône develops and deploys each year a training program in France and around the world to raise awareness, educate and retain prescribers of Rhone wines. Various tools and modules are thus offered to perfect one's knowledge of the appellations, grape varieties and terroirs that make up the vineyards of the Rhone Valley.

Vignobles de la Vallée du Rhône
Vidoc

Vidoc is what we call VIFA: Variété d'Intérêt à Fin d'Adaptation, meaning it is authorized in certain appellations on an experimental basis, in particular to meet environmental and societal expectations. More precisely, it is for its resistance to diseases such as downy mildew and powdery mildew that Vidoc is being tested in the Rhône Valley, particularly in the Côtes du Rhône vineyards.

Vignobles de la Vallée du Rhône
Terret noir

Terret noir, with aromas of plum and redcurrant, is present in the blend of Côtes du Rhône, Côtes du Rhône Villages and southern Côtes du Rhône vintages, where it is appreciated for its acidity and low alcohol levels. This grape variety is related to the piquepoul family.

Vignobles de la Vallée du Rhône
Syrah

Because of its pretty name, it was long believed to be Persian, Syrian or born in Syracuse. Recent analyzes have revealed that our beloved Syrah had in fact taken root in Savoie and Ardèche. A low-yielding, rare and precious grape variety, it is only grown in suitable and privileged areas. A southern variety, it has a spicy character and delicious notes of violet that it knows how to express in Rhône wines, which are as fine as they are complex.

Syrah is one of the most emblematic red grape varieties of the northern part of the Côtes du Rhône. Due to its rarity, it is only used to produce certain great wines. However, it is cultivated all over the world and flourishes on more than 140,000 ha around the world, from Argentina, South Africa, California to Chile, and from New Zealand to Mexico. In Australia it is famous as Shiraz.

Vignobles de la Vallée du Rhône
Piquepoul noir

A rare grape variety, Piquepoul noir is appreciated for its fairly rich bouquet of flowers and fruits. It is elegant, not very tannic and fine, and is useful in blending red wines and especially rosés.

Vignobles de la Vallée du Rhône
Pinot noir

Pinot noir doesn't need an introduction! The great black Burgundian grape variety is the source of some of the greatest wines in the world. It is also present in the Rhône Valley, in the valleys of Diois, within the AOC Châtillon-en-Diois, alongside Gamay and other Burgundian grape varieties such as Chardonnay and Aligoté.

Vignobles de la Vallée du Rhône
Muscardin

Muscardin is an auxiliary grape variety that is used in the production of several southern Rhône wines. It gives them a note of freshness as well as a floral aroma. It makes it possible to make wine very rich in aromas, moderately alcoholic, lightly colored with a note of tasty freshness.

Vignobles de la Vallée du Rhône
Mourvèdre

Long mysterious about its origins and considered a simple auxiliary grape variety, Mourvèdre is now widely cultivated in the southern Rhône valley, on the well-exposed hillsides of the South. Monastrell, as it is called in Spain, is a grape variety that loves hot terroirs! Sometimes rough, but warm and unrivaled, it produces a powerful, ample, tannic wine, yet of great finesse. Unmissable, it still seems to have some nice surprises in store… and since 2002 it has had its own “Conservatory of the Mourvèdre grape variety”.
