Blending
Refers to a white, rosé, or red wine made from several grape varieties. A blend is also used when a producer creates a cuvée from several plots or lots (unrelated to the concept of grape variety in this case).
In both cases, the principle of blending is to play with different entities to create a unique, original wine, typical of a particular estate or brand.
In the Rhône Valley, each appellation regulates the options available to producers to use one or more grape varieties (based on viticultural, historical, and traditional criteria).
